Sandy Hook Elementary’s tragic events had one mother who tragically lost a daughter started searching for the connection with her new angel.
Emilie went to her first grade class at Sandy Hook Elementary like every other day.
Alissa had some time alone while Emilie was at school, and a younger daughter was at preschool. She took advantage and ran some errands.
During her shopping trip, she got a phone call that one of the schools in the district had had a shooting. She decided to go pick up her preschooler, while there she heard that you could go pick up your kids at the fire station that was right by the school. As she headed towards the school to pick up Emilie she saw the first responders, and the traffic that was building from all the other parents picking up their children.
After a five and a half hour wait at the fire station, Alissa and her husband would finally get the news that Emilie would not be going home that day. Emilie’s and her class mates had become victims in a horrific shooting. Alissa recently wrote a book called A Unseen Angel. She talks in details about how she and her family have been able to keep going, forgive, and find the good around them. Alissa was also determined to feel Emilie close by her, and to know more about the life she was now living. She talks about those answers she got, and how she knows that Emilie is now an unseen Angel – that is her new life, and her new mission.
