I am getting real about my diagnosis of Hashimoto disease and what that has looked like for me. It’s been a huge struggle. I have been working on accepting my new normal, accepting that my body doesn’t actually work the way it should be, and working on healing from the inside out.
Hashimoto disease flares can come in the form on aches, pains, exhaustion, pain from food, etc. I’ve had to be so much more careful about what I’m eating – and that’s been challenging. I knew very little about this disease when I was diagnosed and hope this helps someone else know they aren’t alone in this whirlwind.
Hashimoto disease is an autoimmune disease that happens when your thyroid hormones get attached by your own body. The body mistakes the thyroid for other things, and attacks! For me it causes extreme fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, and anxiety (which I will talk more about another time). It has been a journey to be where I am and more accepting of where I am.
