When we are trying to make the change in our lives and have self-compassion, there are 3 elements we need realize. In today’s episode we are going to dive into these 3 elements a little bit.
The first one is self kindness. We need to recognize and realize that we are never going to do all the things. We really won’t live up to every standard we set for ourselves. Guess what? That’s absolutely okay! We aren’t supposed to be perfect. There are supposed to be short comings and gaps in our lives. Those short comings and gaps allow growth. They also allow humility and the options to turn our lives over to Christ so He can fill in the gaps and make up the difference in our short comings.
There is an element of common humanity when it comes to falling short. Every single person on the planet is not perfect. They aren’t! You may feel like someone has all the luck or does all the things, or is perfect. They aren’t. We all struggle. When we take time to get to know people and see them, and feel with them, we see that their lives are hard too. We can relate to everyone because we all struggle. Notice the common humanity that is among the people around you.
Becoming mindful of your thoughts and actions is huge. When you notice the times you are or are not self compassionate, you can change. You can change your thoughts. When you change your thoughts to be something that lifts you, you change your world. That sounds drastic, but it’s true! When you start to be kind to yourself, forgive yourself and see the good in your life situations (even if they aren’t good), you will see goodness in your life where you didn’t know you had it.
