The process of becoming more like Jesus Christ isn’t the process of becoming perfect – it’s just the process of becoming.
We are going to learn about Enoch today. Enoch was called by God, and he did not feel like he was the right person. However, God reassured him that he was the right person, and that He’d be standing by his side the entire time.
Enoch is called the teach a people about the teachings from the Book of Remembrance. He teaches of repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, having the Priesthood of God, being a child of God, and becoming like Christ. The becoming is everything listed there. It is learning to repent, and keep our covenants. Living our lives so that the Holy Ghost can direct our paths. Understanding our priesthood power and authority, and using it! It is allowing our will to be His will. To walk the hard path and trust that He will be by our side – just as He was by Enoch’s side.
Learning to trust the Lord is also part of our becoming like Him. It is part of our purpose here on Earth. Proverbs 3:5-6 says:
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
When we can trust Him, we lean on Him. In turn He will direct our paths. We have to assume that He will direct them in a way that will be in the best interest of our lives. Sometimes this means taking a huge leap of blind faith. It’s scary, and hard. It can be incredible at the same time though. Heavenly Father loves you. He is cheering you on. He is helping you become like Jesus Christ every day!
